Secrets of Grand Central Terminal

In addition to the tours I've been creating myself, I am in the Docent training program for the Municipal Arts Society for the Official Tours of Grand Central Terminal.

It marked its 100th Anniversary on February 1st, 2013 with a day of giveaways, songs and speeches.  The crowds were astounding.

But I want to explore the GCT that I have explored while waiting for the train to New Rochelle.  Trust me, you don't understand a building until you have enough time to really look.  Especially when waiting for a train.

There is a chalkboard hidden in the Biltmore Room, listing long distance trains.

There are more acorns & oak leaves in the sculptures than anyone could possibly count.  Proportedly from the Vanderbuilt Family Crest.  But none of the researchers I know can point to an exact image.

Commodore Vanderbuilt and his money not only united the railroads, but also created the building(s) on the site.  You could say it is a Vanderbuilding.  (And the jokes are not always THAT bad!)

If you come on the tour, I will tell you 10 secrets of GCT.  Or more.  And maybe I'll reveal the new ones here!
